Registered Nurse – Ward 8 – General SurgeryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for registered nurses to join our general surgical ward 8 within the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in both part‑time and full‑time hours. The successful candidates will be required to have an interest in the management and care of surgical patients with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Main duties of the jobStaff will be required to be well‑organised, have good time‑management skills and the ability to work as part of a team or on their own initiative with high standards and have an interest in general surgery.
There will be opportunities for internal development as the University Health Board has a dedicated training and development department offering a wide range of in‑house courses. We also have close links with the University of Glamorgan to support your ongoing professional development which you will be required to demonstrate as part of revalidation.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This does not mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just speaking & listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

The Health Board currently operates a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5‑hour shift, inclusive of either one 30‑minute or two 30‑minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a health‑board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.
PersonSpecification
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are desirable for this role.
- Previous experience of working in a ward environment
- Taken charge of ward/department
- Active UK NMC Registration
