Freelance Interpreter; English​/Rohingya

Overview

Freelance Interpreter (English/Rohingya) with MCIS Language Solutions. Provide essential spoken interpretation services in community settings to facilitate clear and accurate communication between English and Rohingya speakers.

• Interpretation:
  Provide accurate, clear, and professional interpretation between English and Rohingya in community settings, including high-pressure environments in healthcare and legal contexts.
• Cultural Sensitivity:
  Demonstrate cultural awareness, ensuring meaning and tone are faithfully conveyed while respecting cultural nuances.
• Reading and Oral Translation:
  Read and orally translate written materials as needed, including forms, medical records, or legal documents.
• Facilitating Access to Services:
  Help vulnerable populations navigate healthcare, law enforcement, and social services by breaking down language barriers.
• Travel:
  Travel to assignment locations as required; access via car, public transportation, or other means. Flexibility with location and time.
• Remote Assignments:
  Perform over-the-phone or video interpretation when applicable.
• Professionalism and Confidentiality:
  Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interpreting sensitive information.

• Fluency in English and Rohingya (written and spoken) is required.
• Strong reading proficiency:
  Ability to interpret written documents accurately for translation.
• Soft Skills:
  
  Excellent interpersonal skills, empathy, patience, and a commitment to service.
• Transportation:
  Ability to travel to different locations; reliable transportation required.
• Legal Eligibility:
  Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

• Training: MCIS provides a free online training module before starting assignments.
• Experienced Interpreters:
  Applications from certified and experienced interpreters are welcome.

• Job Type: Part-time, Casual, Freelance
• Salary: CA $20.00 to CA $25.00 per hour (based on experience and assignment type)
