Platinum Trailers is a leading manufacturer of high-quality trailers serving the agricultural, transport, and industrial sectors. We are looking for a Mechanical Designer with strong CAD skills and a hands‑on approach to join our engineering and production team. If you enjoy designing practical, real‑world mechanical solutions and working closely with fabrication teams, this role is a great fit.
Responsibilities- Develop accurate CAD models and technical drawings using Onshape.
- Create detailed fabrication drawings from sketches, physical samples, or verbal instructions.
- Design components for new trailer production, including truck chassis, mechanical assemblies, and sheet metal components.
- Support repair, modification, and retrofit projects by documenting replacement parts, redesigning worn components, and updating existing drawings.
- Collaborate closely with production staff and visit the shop floor to gather measurements, verify fitment, and support manufacturing.
- Apply proper dimensioning, tolerancing, and drafting standards to all design work.
- Support design updates, continuous improvements, and troubleshooting during manufacturing.
- Ensure all design files, models, and drawings are accurate, organized, and production‑ready.
- Experience with Onshape or similar 3D CAD systems (Solid Works, Inventor, Fusion 360, etc.).
- Strong mechanical design and drafting skills.
- Understanding of welding, metal fabrication, and machining processes.
- Ability to interpret and create detailed drawings and assemblies.
- Comfortable working on the shop floor to gather measurements and verify designs.
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience in trailer, heavy equipment, or fabrication industries is an asset.
- 3 PLUS years of experience working in the field. SCHOOL PROJECTS DO NOT COUNT.
