Project Quantity Surveyor | Public Sector, Heritage & Resi Refurbishments | London | Jan 2026

Join a long-established London-based main contractor delivering public sector refurbishment, maintenance, and small-to-medium capital works across the capital.

Due to continued workload - including multiple live frameworks - they're looking to appoint an additional Project Quantity Surveyor to support delivery across several schemes.

The Role
You'll be responsible for commercially managing your own projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Key responsibilities:

• Running projects up to £6m in value

• Managing valuations, variations, CVRs, and final accounts

• Procuring and managing subcontractor packages

• Working closely with site teams and clients (largely public sector)

• Reporting into a senior commercial lead in a supportive, experienced team

• Projects are mainly refurbishment, maintenance, and alteration works, rather than new build.

Typical Projects

• Public sector refurbishment & maintenance frameworks

• Local authority buildings & town halls

• Schools & nurseries

• Health centres

• Listed and heritage buildings

• Commercial & mixed-use refurbishments

• Recent schemes range from £300k to £6m, including:

• Woolwich Town Hall refurbishments

• Royal Borough framework works

• Education and healthcare refurb projects

• Commercial and listed building alterations

What they're looking for

• Project Quantity Surveyor (or strong Assistant QS ready to step up)

• Experience with refurbishment, maintenance, or public sector projects

• Comfortable running your own jobs end-to-end

• Practical, organised, and commercially aware

• Happy working for a smaller, well-established contractor rather than a Tier 1

The Company

• Established contractor with a long trading history

• Strong public sector client base

• Steady workflow via frameworks and repeat clients

• Sensible, down-to-earth culture - not corporate or bureaucratic

No pressure - if this sounds like something worth exploring, let's have a conversation.
