General Foreman

PSR Solutions are currently recruiting for a General Foreman in London/Kent. This will be working for a reputable contractor within the civils industry and they are looking for people with experience in earthworks, enabling works and groundworks. More information below!

Job Summary

The General Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily site operations, supervising foremen and crews, and ensuring civil works are completed safely, on time, and to the required quality standards. The role acts as the key link between site management and the workforce.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate site foremen, supervisors, and trade crews

Plan and manage daily and weekly site activities

Ensure works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and method statements

Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance

Monitor productivity and progress against programme schedules

Coordinate plant, materials, and labour requirements

Conduct site inspections and quality checks

Identify and resolve on-site issues efficiently

Communicate effectively with Site Managers, Engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers

Assist with toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings

Ensure accurate site records, reports, and timesheets are maintained

Health & Safety

Enforce health and safety policies at all times

Ensure risk assessments and safe work methods are followed

Stop works if unsafe conditions are identified

Promote a strong safety culture on site

Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a General Foreman or Senior Foreman in civil construction

Strong knowledge of civil works (earthworks, drainage, concrete, services, etc.)

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Strong leadership and people-management skills

Good problem-solving and organisational abilities

Excellent communication skills

Qualifications (Desirable)

Relevant trade or civil construction qualification

First Aid, WHS/CSCS (or equivalent), and site safety certifications

Plant or machinery tickets (advantageous)
