Consultant in Anaesthetics Theatre – NHS Forth Valley

Full‑time (10 practice hours, with up to 2 shift‑based posts). Salary: £111,430 – £148,064 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time).

We are looking for an enthusiastic consultant to support an expanding anaesthetic team within NHS Forth Valley, based mainly at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert, with associated pain management clinics at Falkirk Community Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive anaesthetic care across obstetric, paediatric, surgical, critical care and emergency services, including on‑site out‑of‑hours and overnight activity.
  • Support residents and other team members in obstetric, critical care and emergency services, working alongside a non‑resident general and intensive care consultant.
  • Contribute to the development of the Forth Valley Elective Care Centre, with a vision of expanding the department to 43 consultants.
  • Participate in the departmental models of Day of Surgery Admission, Day Case Surgery and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS).
  • Deliver and support subspecialty interests such as acute or chronic pain management and intensive care, where appropriate.
  • Share 1/3 (one in 39) share of non‑resident on‑call duties and participate in the 1/3 share of the non‑resident on‑call program.
Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (UK) or equivalent, registered with the GMC Specialist Register.
  • Within 6 months of the anticipated award of a CCT at interview, or for portfolio pathway entered on the GMC Specialist Register at application.
  • Evidence of recent continued academic and professional development.
  • Excellent communication, listening and organisational skills.
