An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate interested in a locum consultant radiologist post (12 months fixed term) to join our team at Barking Havering, and Redbridge University Hospital Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic consultant to join our well established, dedicated and supportive radiology team to serve a population of 750,000.
The post will cover general radiology and Cardiothoracic Imaging.
The post holder will be primarily located at Queen’s/ King George Hospital, Romford , but may require working at Barking CDC at Barking and St. George’s CDC at Hornchurch.
The post holder is expected to:
- share an office space, secretarial support with another colleague with access to a PACS reporting station.
- report CT coronary angiography and have knowledge about cardiac MRI as may be required for an intended cardiac MRI service
- report cross-sectional images for general radiology performed on the MRI and CT scanners at the CDC centres, King George’s and Queen’s Hospital.
- contribute to the general duty roster and hot reporting sessions.
- contribute to the specialist MDTs with other colleagues in rotation.
- participate regularly in the mandatory department meetings.
- share an on-call commitment equally with the general radiology consultants.
- have, a PC and in addition a reporting workstation for remote access to images for on‑call purposes.
Role Requirements
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Full‑time Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Cardiothoracic Imaging to join our dynamic team for Radiology Department at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust to expand our team and enhance support for the Community Diagnostic Centre.
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic, motivated individual who is able to work successfully and flexibly in a team. They will be expected to collaborate with the thoracic and body radiologists across all sites to maintain and enhance a comprehensive emergency and elective thoracic imaging service. The appointee will also be part of a wider team of consultant radiologists providing subspecialty and general radiological services across the Trust.
The post will have a commitment to support a range of diagnostic services. Experience in expert thoracic radiology, cardiac imaging and lung cancer screening programme would be an advantage. This service is integral to early detection, treatment planning, and post‑treatment surveillance for lung cancer, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in a high‑volume clinical environment. The department also works closely with the Trust’s pulmonology, pathology and oncology teams in collaboration with cardiothoracic surgeons from neighbouring Trust forming a key part of our multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach to patient management.
