South Fulham PCN has an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified GP towork with the seven practices within our thriving PCN.

Please note that as an organisation, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship.

Main duties of the job

As per NHSE guidance, this is a position for newly qualified GPs (within2 years of CCT date), who have not previously held a substantive post, to workin the PCN on a fixed term contract until 30th September 2026. Thepost-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needsin a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients.

We are keen to attract the right candidate, and will work with you toagree what works best for the practices, PCN, and appointed person we are therefore approaching recruitment with an open mind on the specifics of how therole will function, be it rotating across practices, running a special interest clinic or working alongside our e-hub team.

You will be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold acertificate of completion of training within two years. As per national guidance, this role is not open to General Medical Practitioners who are beyondthe second anniversary of their certificate of completion of training.

Job responsibilities
  • You will undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone/video consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the practice or external organisations.
  • Assessing the health needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Contributing to QOF requirements and recording data appropriately.
  • Contributing to PCN requirements and recording data appropriately.
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health-related illnesses.
  • Screening patients for health education.
  • Admitting and discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Collecting data for audit purposes and contributing to the practice audit programme as required.
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions using ESP (avoiding physical or hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
  • Prescribing in accordance with the accepted prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
  • Take responsibility for some aspects of the clinical work within the team, for example coordinating aspects of governance, QOF, enhanced services, CPD and keeping clinical protocols up to date.

In general, the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, as set by Royal College of General Practitioners, General Medical council, all other Royal colleges and councils applicable to the staff within the practice, Department of Health, Clinical Commissioning Groups and all other regulatory and standard setting organisations.
