Senior Radar Analyst
Location:

Job Scope
The Senior Radar Analyst provides technical analysis for radar systems, develops new radar concepts, and creates models that support system design and performance assessment. The role also supports wider Research and Development activities across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop mathematical models of radar systems using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink and Mathcad.
* Provide design data to software and hardware teams.
* Support validation of developed hardware and software.
* Produce detailed specifications for equipment development.
* Analyse radar performance and trials data and prepare reports for internal and external customers.
* Design and develop digital signal processing algorithms.
* Liaise with suppliers to ensure performance requirements are achieved.
* Contribute to the design of new radar systems and present technical material to customers or external groups.
* Travel within the UK and overseas when required.
* Carry out additional tasks relevant to the role.
Essential Requirements
* Masters or Bachelors degree in a relevant subject.
* Experience with MATLAB and digital signal processing.
* Working knowledge of radar or related fields such as sonar, image processing or communications.
* Track record of completing analysis and design tasks on time and within budget.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Self-motivated and able to contribute effectively within a team.
Desirable Experience
* Knowledge of pulse compression, Doppler filtering, CFAR and detection.
* Experience in radar video processing, image processing, plot extraction or tracking.
* Understanding of phased array radar.
* Familiarity with embedded software, Linux or FPGA.
* Experience with RF, antennas or radar electronics.
* Background in systems engineering or R and D including academic research or publications.
* Comfortable with laboratory hardware test and debug.
* Experience with source control or issue tracking tools such as git or JIRA.
* Skills in other programming languages including Python or C and C plus plus.
Key Relationships
The role involves extensive technical liaison across the organisation as well as with customers, suppliers and research partners
