Overview
The Vehicle Dynamics is at the heart of unlocking car performance through advanced technical insight and predictive modelling. The Tyre Science group captures the complex physics of tyre behaviour, developing models that are integrated into simulation tools to optimise car development and on-track performance. These tools recreate real-world conditions in a virtual environment, allowing engineers and drivers to test setups, validate new components, train, and refine race strategies without physically running the car.
Together, these disciplines form a critical foundation for performance gains, transforming data into competitive advantage.
Within Vehicle Dynamics we are hiring for the following roles:
Tyre Science Graduate- Role Join the Vehicle Dynamics department at Williams Racing as a Tyre Science Graduate, contributing to the development and refinement of state-of-the-art tyre models and toolsets. You’ll play a key role in understanding tyre physics and translating that into performance gains on track. This role offers hands-on experience in simulation, testing, and optimisation supporting the development of a competitive Formula 1 car.
Shape the Future Contribute to the development of advanced tyre models and optimisation tools that support car setup and performance.
Design and execute test programmes to improve tyre understanding and simulation accuracy.
Help shape how Williams Racing integrates tyre science into vehicle dynamics and race strategy.
Make Real Impact Develop and maintain a robust tyre model test library.
Ensure strong correlation between simulation behaviour and track or rig-derived measurements.
Support the Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) test programme and contribute to validated simulation data.
Accelerate the creation of accurate tyre parameterisation through toolset optimisation.
Solid academic background in theoretical mechanics and dynamics, with confidence working from first principles.
Proficient in Python and/or C++ and familiar with mechanical and thermal modelling, simulation, and optimisation techniques.
Understanding of simulation development, data analysis, and machine learning is highly desirable.
Detail-oriented, collaborative, and proactive ready to contribute to a high-performance team.
Strong communication skills and a passion for motor sport engineering.
- Role Join the Vehicle Dynamics department at Williams Racing as a Simulation Concept Graduate, contributing to the analysis of simulation and associated methodology, and the development of our vehicle simulation capability. You’ll play a key role in developing novel ways of using our most advanced simulations and contribute to the development and improvement of our next generation models & simulations. This role offers hands-on experience in simulation, testing, and optimisation supporting the development of a competitive Formula 1 car.
Shape the Future Contribute to the development of next-generation simulation tools that influence car concept and race strategy.
Work with advanced vehicle models and simulation platforms to explore new performance possibilities.
Collaborate with experts to push the boundaries of simulation technology in Formula 1.
Make Real Impact Analyse drivability and stability, develop vehicle parameters, and automate correlation methods.
Support future car concept simulations and refine lap, ride, and inference simulation methodologies.
Support in maximising the use and effectiveness of simulation tools across the organisation.
Join a passionate, forward-thinking team that values curiosity, collaboration, and innovation.
Relevant Degree in Engineering, Computing Science, Physics etc
Strong ability in Physics and Maths
Comfortable spending a lot of time coding (preferably in Python and/or MATLAB)
History doesn’t repeat itself. It’s rebuilt - one breakthrough at a time. Be part of the team redefining performance and writing the next winning chapter for Williams Racing.
