Business Division

Discover the world of Capital Markets with a career in our Investment Banking Capital Markets (IBCM) division. Here we aim to build long‑term, trusted and mutually beneficial relationships with the major corporates, financial institutions, financial sponsors and sovereigns around the world.

The Investment Banking Capital Markets business is a comprehensive private‑side product and coverage area focused on the primary issuance of multi‑currency debt, from origination through to execution.

Key product areas within the division include:

  • Debt Capital Markets – product specialists responsible for winning debt capital market business and providing expertise to issuers.
  • Investment Grade Acquisition Finance – originates, structures and executes M&A‑related and general liquidity‑driven financings.
  • Equity Capital Markets – offers equity capital market expertise for IPOs, rights issues and other equity products.
  • Structured Equity – creates, markets, structures and executes structured equity transactions for corporates, sponsors and family offices.
  • Leveraged Debt Capital Markets – handles senior, mezzanine and high‑yield transactions across the EMEA region.
Division Specifics About The Apprentice Role

We offer a structured programme combining practical experience with academic and professional development. You’ll work towards a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Finance and professional qualifications (CISI/IMC, CFA), supported by dedicated study time, on‑the‑job coaching and a personal mentor. The programme culminates in a Level 4 Investment Operations Specialist award (Year 2) and a Level 6 Financial Services award (Year 4).

Your rotational experience in IBCM will include:

  • Industry research and company performance monitoring
  • Pricing products for traders
  • Preparing financial data analysis
  • Pitching transactions to the team
  • Participating in client calls and refining forecasting models
  • Involved in live deals, exploring new financing & lending opportunities, preparing marketing materials, and reviewing deal pricing and structure comparisons

  • Graduate from sixth form (school, academy, or college) in 2026 or have graduated in the last 12 months (i.e. in 2025).
  • Earn a minimum of AAA at A‑Level (or equivalent), including A in Maths, as set out in the relevant course page Applied Finance – Queen Mary University of London.
  • Receive conditional offers only upon acceptance to the Applied Finance degree programme at Queen Mary University.
