The Role Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this is a key technical role within the finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across multiple business models. You will lead month-end processes, manage complex accounting areas, and support the implementation of new systems and controls. The role offers a blend of hands-on technical work and strategic input, partnering closely with teams across operations, FP&A, and global tax.
Key Responsibilities Lead the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations to deliver timely and accurate reporting. Act as the technical accounting expert, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and company policies. Oversee inventory accounting, ensuring correct valuation, reconciliation, and reporting across wholesale and e-commerce. Monitor daily cash flow and maintain strong relationships with banking partners. Prepare monthly and year-end financial reporting, supporting external audits with schedules and working papers.
Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, including VAT returns. Drive process improvements, automation, and internal controls across the finance function. Support ERP implementation and integration with financial reporting workflows. Collaborate with FP&A and operational teams to deliver insights and improve reporting accuracy. Ad-hoc tasks to support the Financial Controller What We Need To See (Essential):
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CA, ACCA, or CIMA) Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in wholesale, e-commerce, or similar sectors. Proven ability to improve processes and implement best practices. Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships across teams. Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets. Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-changing environment.
