Job Summary
Hartree Partners is seeking a Junior Metals Analyst to join our Base Metals Trading team in London. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated graduate to gain exposure to the metals markets within a dynamic global trading environment. The successful candidate will work closely with traders, originators and other analysts to support commercial decision‑making through market analysis, data management and performance reporting.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance internal market models, databases and dashboards to ensure timely and accurate data delivery to the trading desk.
- Contribute to daily and weekly market reports summarizing key developments, price movements and regional dynamics.
- Support traders with ad‑hoc analysis, including pricing structures and spread relationships.
- Liaise with middle and back‑office teams to ensure consistency and accuracy across trade data, exposure and performance reporting.
- Stay abreast of global macroeconomic trends, geopolitical events and other factors impacting metals markets.
- Leverage AI/LLM tools to accelerate research, analysis and development.
Education & Experience
- Degree in engineering, mathematics, economics, finance, computer science or a related quantitative field.
- Experience in commodities, trading or a market‑facing analytical role preferred, but not essential.
- Strong Python experience applied to real‑world data analysis and tool building.
- Advanced Excel skills for practical trading desk use.
