Job Overview
We are recruiting a Specialist Senior Echo Physiologist to lead outpatient cardiology services at our purpose‑built Specialist Diagnostics & Dental Centre in East London. This role requires expertise in echocardiography and cardiovascular physiology to deliver high‑quality patient care across a range of cardiac diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the cardio‑physiology practice by establishing and embedding clinical services, creating pathways and processes that deliver outstanding patient care and experience.
- Drive clinical excellence, governance, and innovation while supporting seamless transition of patients across care pathways within Bupa’s London network.
- Manage a small team of Cardiac Physiologists and Cardiac Associates, ensuring delivery of high‑quality cardiac diagnostic services, including echocardiograms, ECGs, stress tests, and blood‑pressure and Holter monitoring.
- Oversee performance and operational delivery of the cardiology service, working closely with stakeholders in both primary and secondary care to drive efficiency and maintain exceptional standards of care.
- Build strong relationships with referring clinicians and hospital departments, both internally and externally, and play an active role in expanding and enhancing the service.
- Support diagnostic and secondary care sites across London when required.
- BSc (Hons) in Clinical Cardiac Physiology, BSc in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology), or equivalent (ESSENTIAL).
- Transthoracic (TTE) Level 2 accreditation by the British Society of Echocardiography or Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography Certification by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) (ESSENTIAL).
- Evidence of maintaining relevant Continuing Professional Development, e.g. ILS – Immediate Life Support Course (ESSENTIAL).
- Stress Echocardiography Accreditation by the British Society of Echocardiography and MSc or STP equivalence in Cardiac Imaging (DESIRABLE).
- Appropriate clinical experience post‑qualification (ESSENTIAL).
- Strong specialist knowledge acquired through training as a Clinical Physiologist (ESSENTIAL).
- Significant leadership capabilities in a senior role.
