Kingston Birth Centre is an extremely popular choice for women with a straightforward pregnancy. Amongst the South West London Trusts, our Birth Centre remains open, with consistently high birth numbers and excellent feedback as a testament to our excellent midwifery care and facilities.
The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical excellence and managerial leadership for the Birth Centre within Kingston & Richmond Maternity Services. To provide women and babies with a high quality, safe midwifery care, throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be a highly visible champion of midwifery lead care through demonstration of excellent clinical knowledge and practice.
The role of the Birth Centre Team Lead is to support the Matron for Birth Centre and Consultant Midwife to ensure women are provided with personalised care. They must act as a leader and effective role model to staff, promoting healthy outcomes from women and babies within Kingston Maternity Services.
The care will be evidenced based and holistic in meeting women's individual needs and the midwife will be expected to work autonomously within the guidelines and sphere of professional practice.
The post holder will regularly audit achievements and initiate projects to improve the service provided on the Birth Centre.

Person Specification Qualifications- Registered midwife with current NMC registration
- Evidence of ongoing education
- Relevant experience as a band 6
- Experience in managing a ward or equivalent area
- Management of people
- Ability to demonstrate leadership
- Demonstrates understanding of role boundaries
- Ability to coordinate and liaise within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in clinical audit
- Experience in low and high risk care
- Practice evidence based care
