HR Officer Required to start ASAP | Camden
Secondary Academy | London
Salary: £42,912 – £45,852 (SO2–PO1), pro rata (0.6 FTE)
Contract:
Fixed-term maternity cover (12 months initially)
Working pattern: 3 days per week, all year round

This forward-thinking secondary academy is looking for an experienced and people-centred HR Officer to play a vital role in supporting staff, strengthening compliance and helping leaders create a positive, well-run working environment.
This is an ideal opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys variety, values confidentiality, and wants their work to have a direct impact on staff wellbeing and pupil outcomes.
The role at a glance
* Act as the first point of contact for HR and employee relations matters
* Lead and coordinate safer recruitment and onboarding processes
* Ensure staff records and the Single Central Record are fully compliant
* Support absence management, conduct, grievances and disciplinary processes
* Work closely with senior leaders and external HR advisors
* Manage appraisal and performance management processes
* Review and update HR policies in line with employment law
* Ensure compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education
* Produce HR reports and workforce data, including statutory returns
* Support audits, inspections and safeguarding checks
* Liaise with external agencies such as occupational health and the DfE
About you
* Previous experience in an HR Officer, Advisor or similar role
* Strong knowledge of employee relations, recruitment and HR compliance
* Confident handling sensitive matters with discretion and empathy
* Highly organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities
* Excellent communication and IT skills
* A clear commitment to safeguarding and equality
