We are seeking an experienced Information & Cyber Security Manager to support a large-scale national technology transformation programme delivering a secure, resilient communications and data platform. The role sits within the programme’s central security function, responsible for assuring the security of a multi-supplier, mission-critical solution used across the UK public sector.
As part of the Security Operations pillar, you will work closely with delivery partners and internal teams to oversee operational security activities and ensure the programme maintains a robust security posture throughout design, implementation, and transition phases.
Responsibilities
• Lead day-to-day security operations, including incident response coordination, vulnerability management, threat monitoring, and operational risk assessments.
• Oversee security deliverables from multiple suppliers and ensure alignment with contractual, technical, and security requirements.
• Collaborate with systems integration partners to design and mature end-to-end Security Operations Centre (SOC) capabilities.
• Chair or contribute to key security governance and operational forums.
• Act as the primary point of contact for operational security matters, engaging with suppliers, stakeholders, and internal security teams.
• Maintain and enhance security operational procedures, runbooks, and reporting mechanisms with SI partners.
• Support the Head of Security Operations in delivering strategic objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide expert guidance on security risks, mitigations, and incident handling to programme leadership and delivery teams.
• Lead or support security investigations and coordinate with relevant external bodies where required.
Essential Criteria
• Extensive experience managing information/cyber security operations within large, complex, or high-availability environments.
• Strong knowledge of UK government security standards, NCSC guidance, and recognised risk management frameworks.
• Proven experience leading incident response and vulnerability management in multi-supplier ecosystems.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills, including experience influencing senior leaders.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively
