We’re home to the UK’s largest choice of properties and are the go-to destination for millions of people planning their next move, reading the latest industry news, or just browsing what’s on the market.

Data Architect responsibilities include:
  • Evolve the long‑term data architecture strategy and data operating model.
  • Ensure clarity of data ownership across the organisation, providing an understanding of authoritative data sources and owner responsibilities.
  • Map and document end‑to‑end data flows across our Product Development and Data and Analytics teams, ensuring alignment and visibility.
  • Establish standards for data modelling, lineage, data quality rules, data contracts, and governance practices.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy obligations such as right to be forgotten, retention policies, and DPIA adherence.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and analytics teams to design scalable, secure, and AI‑ready data solutions aligned to business needs.
We’re looking for someone who can:
  • Translate business goals into pragmatic, scalable data solutions.
  • Balance hands‑on modelling with strategic thinking and long‑term planning.
  • Confidently explain concepts, risks, and trade‑offs to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Design for clarity, quality, and resilience across complex distributed systems.
  • Champion simplicity, responsible data usage, and high‑quality governance.
  • Influence data practices across teams in product development, fostering collaboration and strong data stewardship.
We are looking for someone who has:
  • A background in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling and modern data architecture patterns.
  • Experience designing architecture combining an analytical data platform and operational data layer.
  • Hands‑on experience with data pipelines, event streaming, warehousing/lakehouse platforms, and metadata/governance tooling.
  • Familiarity with data privacy obligations, DPIAs, retention policies, and privacy‑by‑design considerations.
  • Experience working closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams in a modern technology environment.
  • A track record of designing or improving data ecosystems within growing or complex organisations.

You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of technologies, including GCP, Kubernetes (GKE), Kafka, Elasticsearch, Oracle, Couchbase and Apigee, so previous experience in any of these is welcome.
