Service Now Dev Ops Engineer Dev Ops Engineer CMDB & Automation Contract duration: 6 months
Location:
London, UK (Hybrid for 3days/week) Per day rate: 250 GBP (Inside IR35)
Position Overview We are looking for a Dev Ops Engineer CMDB & Automation to join our IT Service Management and Operations team. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) , while driving automation initiatives across infrastructure and application environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Service Now CMDB, Dev Ops practices, and automation frameworks, with a passion for improving operational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities CMDB Management Design, implement, and maintain the Service Now CMDB structure, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Define and enforce governance policies for configuration item (CI) lifecycle management. Integrate CMDB with monitoring, discovery, and asset management tools. Perform audits and reconciliation to ensure CMDB compliance with ITIL standards. Automation Initiatives Develop and implement automation scripts and workflows for infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and application deployment.
Integrate CMDB with Dev Ops pipelines to enable automated updates of configuration items. Build automated solutions for CI/CD, monitoring, and reporting. Integration & Collaboration Collaborate with ITSM, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure CMDB supports operational needs. Integrate CMDB with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Dev Ops tools (Jenkins, Git Lab, Ansible, Terraform). Work closely with change and incident management teams to ensure CMDB reflects real-time system states.
Governance & Compliance Ensure CMDB aligns with ITIL and organizational compliance requirements. Provide reporting and analytics on CMDB health, automation efficiency, and CI lifecycle. Support audits and risk assessments by maintaining accurate configuration records. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to enhance CMDB usability and automation coverage. Stay updated on Service Now CMDB capabilities and Dev Ops automation trends. Recommend and implement best practices for CMDB and automation processes.
Required
Skills & Qualifications Technical Expertise Hands-on experience with Service Now CMDB and ITSM modules. Strong knowledge of automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef). Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Power Shell, Shell). Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git Lab, Azure Dev Ops).
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Process Knowledge Solid understanding of ITIL processes , especially Configuration, Change, and Incident Management. Experience in integrating CMDB with monitoring and discovery tools. Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) CMDB. ITIL v4 Foundation certification. Experience in large-scale enterprise environments. Exposure to monitoring tools (Splunk, Prometheus, ELK) for CI data validation.
