Immigration Team

Seeking applications for tenancy from junior practitioners between 0-4 years’ call.

Doughty Street’s Immigration Team is recognised as one of the largest and most highly regarded at the Bar. We are ranked band 1 in Chambers and Partners with 21 members of the team ranked. We are proud of our reputation for consistent excellence, and we are recognised both nationally and internationally for our fearless advocacy on behalf of clients in disputes with the State.

Our immigration barristers offer a broad range of experience which allows us to provide a high-quality expert service to clients in asylum, human rights, trafficking and business immigration cases. Team members appear regularly in the Immigration and Asylum Chamber of the First‑Tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal, as well as in SIAC, the Administrative Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, and have been involved in many of the leading domestic and European cases in immigration, asylum and trafficking law.

We are seeking applications from junior barristers of 4 years’ call or less, to strengthen our highly respected Immigration Team. We are looking for candidates who will primarily focus on appeal and judicial review cases in the First‑Tier and Upper Tribunal, across asylum, human rights (including family and private life and deportation) and citizenship/nationality cases. The successful candidate may also take on a wider range of casework across the team’s practice areas.

Applicants should have a focus on claimant/appellant work, a demonstrable commitment to human rights and civil liberties, and have a clear understanding of our work. Experience in personal immigration (including asylum/refugee and human rights work) is essential, and a strong track record in Tribunal appellate work is highly desirable. Though not essential, we would welcome candidates ranked in the relevant directories and with a profile at the immigration bar.

All enquiries and applications for this post will be treated as confidential.

To apply, please complete the application form and submit completed applications by 5pm on Friday 16th January 2026 to

We are happy to discuss possible applications, and should you wish to speak to us before making an application, please contact our Senior Clerk, Sian Wilkins ().
