Court Officer

About the Role

We are recruiting a Court Officer to join a busy and supportive London Local Authority legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified solicitor or a legal professional who has recently qualified after working as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Officer within a public‑sector environment.

You will play a key role in supporting the council's housing and litigation functions, managing a varied caseload and providing clear, accurate legal advice to internal stakeholders.

• Manage and progress a caseload of housing and civil litigation matters
• Prepare court documentation, statements, and case bundles
• Attend court hearings, case conferences, and meetings as required
• Provide timely legal advice to officers and service managers
• Liaise with external partners, counsel, and other local authorities
• Support the wider legal team with case preparation and research
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements

We are looking for someone who is:

• A Newly Qualified Solicitor (NQ) or qualified within the last few years
• Experienced working as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Officer within a Local Authority or public‑sector legal team
• Confident handling housing or litigation matters
• Able to manage a busy caseload and work to deadlines
• A strong communicator who can build positive working relationships
• A team player who enjoys working collaboratively in a supportive environment
