Director of Safeguarding

Integrity Education Solutions are supporting a unique independent Special Educational Needs (SEN) group based in London, which provides therapeutic education for children and young people with special educational and neurodiverse learning needs.

They are seeking the appointment of a Director of Safeguarding. This is a senior strategic role with responsibility for ensuring safeguarding is embedded coherently and consistently across multiple schools and services supporting highly vulnerable children and young people.
Safeguarding within this organisation is not a standalone function; it is integral to inclusion practice, attendance, staff conduct, complaints handling, and family engagement. The Director of Safeguarding will provide system-wide leadership, ensuring safeguarding practice is proactive, compliant, and embedded in organisational culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Safeguarding Leadership
 
* Act as Company Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), providing expert oversight and challenge.
 
* Lead the organisation’s safeguarding strategy in line with statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
 
* Provide safeguarding assurance across schools and services, escalating risk where required.
 
* Lead audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of safeguarding practice.
 
* Maintain strong relationships with safeguarding partners including LAs, LADO, and police.
Staff Management, Supervision & Development
 
* Line manage Assistant Heads (Inclusion) and Social Workers across services.
 
* Provide high-quality safeguarding and case supervision.
 
* Oversee safeguarding training, induction, and thematic development programmes.
 
* Support senior leaders with allegations management and low-level concerns.
Attendance, Inclusion & Family Engagement
 
* Provide strategic safeguarding oversight of attendance, CME, and vulnerability-related absence.
 
* Lead company wide attendance assurance, data analysis, and intervention strategies.
 
* Oversee and develop the Families and Schools Working Together (FAST) programme.
 
* Support care-experienced pupils and vulnerable families through inclusive practice.
Complaints & Risk Oversight
 
* Provide strategic oversight of complaints where safeguarding thresholds are met.
 
* Identify themes, learning, and systemic risk arising from complaints or incidents.
 
* Ensure accurate, timely recording of safeguarding matters and notifiable incidents.

Key Requirements:

* Qualified and registered Social Worker (Social Work England).
 
* Significant senior or executive-level experience in safeguarding within education or children’s services.
 
* Extensive knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.
 
* Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams across education, health, and social care.
 
* Strong analytical, leadership, and decision-making skills in complex safeguarding contexts.

Salary offered - £77,000 - £90,500 (Dependent on experience)
