Job DescriptionL&G is a leading voice in asset management, and our communications team plays a vital role in shaping how we engage with the market. As Communications Manager, Asset Management, you’ll help deliver strategic PR initiatives that promote our distribution capabilities across UK and international markets. This is a dynamic opportunity to work with senior stakeholders, manage reputational issues, and contribute to high‑impact campaigns in a collaborative and fast‑paced environment.
What you’ll be doing- Working with the Asset Management communications team, you will focus on developing and executing strategic PR initiatives that showcase Legal & General’s investment expertise and distribution activity across UK and international asset management markets.
- Working closely with internal teams to craft compelling narratives aligned with business goals, identifying media opportunities, producing press materials and thought leadership content, and preparing senior spokespeople for interviews, press briefings, and speaking engagements to ensure impactful representation.
- Working with the business to identify reputational risks, leading on developing media plans to mitigate reputational issues as well as leading on crisis communication issues.
- Building and maintaining relationships with relevant journalists and publications, including outside of the UK.
- Monitoring and measuring media engagement to inform and guide media activity and implement metrics models to measure and report on effectiveness of external communications activities.
- Working with the team to ensure effective day‑to‑day management of our network of UK and international PR agencies and partnering with asset management marketing and investor relations to ensure messaging is aligned.
- Supporting the management of the media budgets and maintaining the External Communications team processes and documentation to ensure timely, compliant communications. Uphold governance, compliance, and risk frameworks to align decisions with business ethics, values and stakeholder expectations.
- Ensuring communications are reviewed and approved by individuals who have the appropriate knowledge, skills and expertise, and that such approval is recorded.
Who we’re looking for:
- Knowledge of external communications, campaigns, PR approaches and media relations practices and tactics.
- Understanding of UK asset management as well as broader finance or investment industry.
- Knowledge of the pensions sector, private and public markets asset classes is desirable but not essential.
- 5+ years of experience in asset management or financial services PR.
- Knowledge of business and finance media landscape.
- Experience in developing and executing PR strategies and campaigns for high‑profile organisations.
- Team player, with a strong work ethic, who takes a collaborative and joined‑up approach to tasks but is also comfortable working independently.
- Organised and detail‑oriented, with the ability to prioritise effectively, multitask quickly and efficiently, adapt to new situations in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
