Position: Food Technologist

Reports To: Technical Manager

We are a well-established importer and distributor of premium food products, supplying both branded and private‑label ranges to major UK retailers. For over three decades, we’ve worked with passionate, specialist producers to bring authentic, high‑quality foods to market.

Our culture is entrepreneurial, fast‑paced, and collaborative. We believe in personal accountability, creativity, and teamwork — and we’re looking for individuals who share our passion for great food, quality, and integrity.

The Role

We’re seeking an experienced Food Technologist to join our dynamic Technical team. This role is ideal for someone who’s detail‑oriented, passionate about food quality and safety, and confident building strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining technical standards across our product range, ensuring compliance with customer and legislative requirements, and supporting the ongoing development of our suppliers and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage technical relationships with retail customers, ensuring all technical systems, policies, and documentation meet required standards.
  • Maintain accurate product specifications, QAS, QCP, nutritional data, and shelf‑life testing.
  • Support supplier selection, approval, and monitoring — including audits, complaint management, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee quality management systems, including HACCP, traceability, internal audits, and compliance with BRC standards.
  • Work cross‑functionally with NPD, logistics, and commercial teams to support new product launches and ongoing projects.
  • Stay up to date with UK retailer systems and policies, ensuring timely completion of technical documentation and reporting.
About You
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar technical role within the food industry.
  • Solid understanding of HACCP, BRC standards, food legislation, and quality management systems.
  • Experience with UK retailer portals (e.g. Sainsbury’s Evolve, M&S Find, Waitrose Engage) is desirable.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel abroad occasionally.
