Breast Cancer News Postdoctoral Research Associate - INTERNAL ONLY - Strand, London, WC2R 2LS
THIS VACANCY IS OPEN TO INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY About Us

The guiding mission of the Centre for Inflammation Biology & Cancer Immunology (CIBCI) is to be an internationally renowned centre for research and training in inflammation biology and tumour immunobiology.

Our researchers aspire to advance the fundamental and applied knowledge of the biology, diagnosis and treatment of inflammation, its associated pathologies, and its bearing on tumour immunobiology. Our collective aim is to identify key mechanisms and pathways underlying inflammation and cancer and to create opportunities for novel treatments for human disease.

CIBCI’s interdisciplinary programme brings together academics, clinicians and trainees to work on clinically relevant cellular and molecular mechanisms of inflammation and tumour immunobiology. This creates a stimulating environment to develop, investigate and apply cutting-edge models and techniques, both experimental and computational, to advance the understanding of human inflammatory disease and cancer. Our projects include studies on tissue imaging, immune cell signalling, immunometabolism, wound healing, neuro-immune interactions, antigen processing and presentation, and innate and adaptive immune cell function, differentiation and regulation.

We foster a collaborative environment that stimulates interactions between all who work in inflammation biology and/or cancer immunology across the King’s faculty, with the aim to advance both research and education in these areas.

About the role

The successful candidates will join a team in Dr. Yin Wu’s lab working on the role of gamma delta T cells in triple negative breast cancers. The post is part of the KCL Breast Cancer Now (BCN) Five-Year programme investigating novel immune therapeutic strategies for hard-to-treat triple negative breast cancers. The post holder will be responsible for carrying out experiments, helping design experiments, co-ordinating the project, timelines, meetings and generally ensuring the smooth running of the lab.

In addition, the postholder may also be responsible for training PhD and project students in the lab. There is an emphasis on translating findings in collaboration with the wider BCN team. The job will involve working with human gamma delta T cells and primary human tissues as well as interpreting multi-omics datasets. The role will therefore require state-of-the-art skills and confidence in wet-lab research, data analytics, and oral and visual communication.

This is a full time 35 hours per week, and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31

July 2028.
