Job Summary
We are recruiting for a Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse to join the Neuro, Emergency and Trauma (NET) Research Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, primarily based at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, with cross‑site working at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith.
This role supports studies within the NET portfolio, including patient‑facing study delivery, support and management from set‑up through to dissemination of research findings. Responsibilities involve recruiting, educating, monitoring research participants, completing clinical assessments, and collecting and documenting accurate research data.
Main Duties- Facilitate efficient, safe and participant‑focused research.
- Contribute to the management of the local portfolio of clinical research studies.
- Identify and recruit patients eligible for clinical research studies.
- Act as mentor to new members of staff.
- Provide cross cover for other members of the research team.
- Manage a portfolio of research projects on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of trial data according to current legislation, guidance and best practice (including GCP).
- Work collaboratively within the MDT to provide expertise in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical research protocols.
- Demonstrate autonomy and collaboration within the MDT.
- Use own initiative, take responsibility for decision‑making and prioritise workload within a team and individually.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of processes, procedures and tools (including databases) for effective research delivery.
- Registered Nurse.
- Relevant experience at Band 5 within a relevant speciality.
- Experience of supervising junior staff, SLICE or equivalent.
- Knowledge of research and audit.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Knowledge of the NHS Plan and its application to practice.
- Degree/Diploma in Nursing.
- Research experience.
- Emergency/ICU/Neuro nursing experience.
- Experience coordinating and managing clinical trials for investigational medicinal products.
- Leadership skills.
- Proven teaching and assessing skills.
- Ability to apply current research to practice.
- Ability to manage difficult situations effectively.
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Ability to use own initiative.
- Aware of wider NHS service developments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to compile complex written information.
