About the Role
Applications are invited for a BHF-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Professor Paul Evans at the William Harvey Research Institute. This post offers an excellent opportunity forslave a motivated early‑career researcher to contribute to a highly productive and internationally recognised research team that has made significant advances in our understanding of endothelial cell biology in atherosclerosis. Building on key discoveries from the Evansomini (e.g. Souilhol et al.,
Science Advances, 2022), this project will use conditional gene knockout models in mice, combined with in vivo cell tracking and single‑cell RNA sequencing, to investigate the role of NOTCH4 in endothelial plasticity and atherosclerosis. The work addresses fundamental questions regarding how endothelial cell phenotypes contribute to atherosclerosis, the underlying cause of heart attack and stroke.
We are seeking an outstanding, self‑motivated, and ambitious early‑career researcher with a strong commitment to pursuing a scientific career. You will hold a PhD in cardiovascular biology or a related discipline. Experience with conditional gene knockout technology, cell tracking, and/or single‑cell RNA sequencing is desirable.
About the SchoolThe William Harvey Research Institute, based at Charterhouse Square, is an internationally‑recognised centre for cardiovascular research. It offers newly refurbished laboratories and stateopc microscopy facilities, providing an outstanding environment for high‑impact research in atherosclerosis. Located in the heart of the City of London, the campus is close to St Paul’s Cathedral, the Barbican Centre and Farringdon, with excellent transport links and a vibrant cultural and social environment.
