We are a team of 40 engineers and researchers responsible for architecting, building, and running Lawhive’s platform, relied on by hundreds of legal professionals every day in the UK, US, and beyond. There are lots of problems we have yet to solve, and plenty we’re not aware of yet. In the next 12 months, we’re focused on:

• Pushing the envelope on the user experience of lawyers’ AI interactions – we’re inventing a new paradigm for human‑machine interaction instead of a simple chat.
• Building modularity and country independence into the core of our platform – we’ve recently expanded to the US and are building the world’s first global consumer law firm.
• Full‑stack AI‑native legal services – we’re not only building software, we’re an AI‑native law firm.

£90 K – £140 K

This role is all about building the next evolution of Lawhive’s platform – making a difference to our customers and propelling Lawhive to the next step‑change in growth. On a daily basis you’ll work alongside designers, product managers, AI researchers, and the wider engineering group. As an engineer, you’ll be responsible for the inception of software in the design and development phase, all the way through to testing, release, and running in production.

• 9:30 am – Team updates in standup.
• 10:00 am – Join a “Lawyer walkthrough” to learn how a marketplace lawyer uses the product.
• 11:00 am – Review a “tech proposal” suggesting changes to one of our key services.
• 11:30 am – 5:00 pm – Heads‑down engineering time! Our core platform is a Type Script‑based monorepo.
• 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Join our fortnightly engineering meeting to hear other team updates, share what your team has been working on, and listen to a deep‑dive talk.

• Type Script – the majority of our applications, front‑ends, and micro‑services.
• Python – for data ingestion and our AI services.
• AWS – for our cloud infrastructure.

• Strong experience building products with Type Script in design‑ and product‑led cross‑functional teams.
• Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code solutions.
• Experience running services in production and responding to incidents.
• Comfort with ambiguity and a passion for owning clarity and driving the product forward.
• A product focus and excitement about learning more about our customers to shape work that better serves them.
• Expertise in one area of software engineering, with a desire to share that knowledge with the rest of the team.
