Programme Overview

Our apprentice programme starts in September 2026. You will join one of our Global Markets teams in a full‑time role while studying for a three‑year Digital Technology Degree. You’ll spend most of your time working alongside experienced colleagues, learning relevant and valuable skills, and contributing to exciting projects while being exposed to cutting‑edge technology. After three years you’ll graduate with a Degree in Digital and Technology Solutions specialising in Software Engineering.

The

Team

The Product Development team is part of the front‑office Global Equities Platform group and is responsible for partnering with clients, sales and trading teams, quants and technology to develop high‑impact platform solutions that are used across the equity derivatives franchise. We are a diverse team of product managers, software engineers and computer scientists, combining strong domain knowledge with entrepreneurial skills to assist in the efficiency and profitability of the business.

Some of our projects include electronic trading and client connectivity, smart chat‑bots to automate trader workflows, risk recycling to assist hedging activities, and the capture and analysis of large data sets to glean further business insights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilise your programming skills to engineer quantitative and domain‑specific solutions for the business.
  • Be located with the team on the trading floor, working in person with our front‑office clients and partners across the franchise.
  • Be responsible for the full software development lifecycle from gathering requirements through to implementation and delivery.
  • Contribute ideas and innovations that could transform the way we trade and manage risk.
  • Develop your understanding of financial products such as stocks, bonds and ETFs, and learn how technology drives decision‑making in global markets.
Essential

Skills and Qualifications
  • 144 UCAS points (AAA) predicted or achieved.
  • Understanding and an active interest in programming (preferably in an object‑oriented language such as Python, C# or Java).
  • Extra‑curricular activities that demonstrate an interest in global markets (stocks, bonds, ETFs) or technical subjects such as data analysis and computer science.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to convey complex ideas clearly to a diverse audience in both spoken and written form.
Desired
  • Computer Science and/or Mathematics A‑Level.
  • Any exposure to modern web UI frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • If you have a Git Hub repository or applications that you have written, we would be interested to see them.
Qualifications / Eligibility
  • Hold or predicted to achieve at least three A‑Levels/BTEC or equivalent with a minimum of 144 UCAS points (AAA grades).
  • Have Maths GCSE grade 7 or equivalent and English Language GCSE grade 5 or equivalent.
  • Been a resident of the UK for the past 3 years.
  • The right to work and remain in the UK indefinitely.
  • Not completed a qualification or apprenticeship at the same level or higher which provided you with substantially the same skills or training as you would gain through this apprenticeship with Bank of America.
