Band 6 Registered Midwife – Community Midwifery

Are you a passionate and dedicated Registered Midwife looking for an exciting new challenge? We invite you to join our progressive and compassionate Maternity Services team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB).

Location: Community Midwifery Service, Derbyshire (staff based across Staffordshire and Derbyshire, including continuity of carer teams).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide antenatal and postnatal care to women on caseload holds, including 24‑hour homebirth service.
  • Assess and plan care for women in all aspects of midwifery care, with awareness of vulnerable adult and child protection procedures.
  • Demonstrate midwifery skills underpinned by current evidence, including suturing, venepuncture, perineal repair and experience of caring for women in low‑risk settings (home births and water births).
  • Work within small, well‑led teams, maximizing locality working by utilising children’s centres, community hospitals and public buildings.
  • Consult and collaborate with specialist midwives, consultant midwives and multidisciplinary team across acute and community settings.
  • Be available for on‑call, weekend and night working obligations.

Qualifications and

Experience:

  • Registered Midwife (NIHR or statutory) with Band 6 experience preferred.
  • Experience in community midwifery or homebirth service is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of vulnerable adult and child protection procedures.
