The UK Sports Institute have an exciting opportunity for a full time Software Tester to join the Performance Data Systems Team on a fixed term basis.

As a software tester, you will be involved in executing the testing strategy for all our applications. You will play an integral role in ensuring the quality and performance of existing systems and new products. You will carry out all forms of testing, inclusive of manual, regression and executing automated tests. You will be involved in all aspects of agile software development.

Actively participating in daily stand-ups, planning, design, retrospectives, and testing of software solutions used by the UK’s high-performance sport system (all Olympic and Paralympic sports and UK Sport Institute staff).

• Develop a deep understanding of the performance data management system.
• Ownership of all testing on our web based software and mobile applications.
• Manual Testing.
• Regression Testing.
• Review existing testing approaches to identify improvement opportunities.
• Have a keen eye and enthusiasm for where tests can be automated.
• Working closely with the developers and business analyst.
• Ownership of all system bugs, including documenting, triaging and prioritising.
• Communicating effectively with the operations team around all live bugs.
• Pro-active in reviewing the teams approaches to help constantly improve our processes.

  • Liaising with the operations team on all live Issues reported by users.

• Degree or similar professional qualification in a relevant subject.

• 1+ years' experience as a software tester (or equivalent).
• Preparation and execution of test cases and plans.
• Experience in functional and user acceptance testing.
• Experience of reporting and maintaining bug backlog in Jira, Dev Ops or similar.

• Experience of Agile & Scrum development environment.
• Knowledge of querying databases such as Microsoft SQL.
• Knowledge and Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have the ability to communicate clearly with the technical and nontechnical audiences in fluent English.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise own workload, balancing conflicting demands and tight deadlines.
• Must be methodical and accurate, showing great attention to details. Be able to troubleshoot to overcome technical challenges with pragmatism and patience.
• Keep up to date with the latest technological advancements, best practice, and industry standards.
• May be required to work with athletes under 18 (DBS check required).
