Materials Planner

Seeking a Materials Planner who will keep production and shipping moving by ensuring ingredients, packaging, and supplies are where they need to be, when they’re needed. The role involves tracking inventory, managing min/max levels, and flagging shortages or expiring items early. Purchasing and receiving also fall under this position, from creating POs and scheduling deliveries to verifying receipts against COAs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inventory levels, maintain stock targets, and identify shortages or excess materials.
• Manage purchase orders, supplier communications, deliveries, and order expediting.
• Verify incoming materials, document discrepancies, and resolve receiving issues.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct cycle counts, and ensure proper lot tracking and FIFO/FEFO rotation.
• Coordinate material staging, production needs, quality holds, and vendor returns.
• Maintain supplier documentation, support audits and recalls, prepare reports, and follow GMP, allergen control, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 2+ years of experience in inventory control, materials, purchasing, or warehouse operations.
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems and strong Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables.
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and documentation skills.
• Effective communication and organizational skills when working with suppliers and internal teams.
• Preferred:
  Supply chain education, food manufacturing experience, GMP/food safety knowledge, APICS/ASCM certification, forklift certification, and bilingual English/Spanish skills.
