Technical Accounting Manager required for a FTSE-listed infrastructure and construction group (Hybrid – Maidenhead)
We are partnering with a FTSE-listed construction and infrastructure group with a strong track record of delivering complex, high-profile projects across the UK. Operating at scale within a regulated and technically demanding environment, the business places a strong emphasis on governance, financial control and high-quality external reporting. Group Finance plays a central role in supporting the Board, investors and senior leadership with robust financial insight and assurance.
As Technical Accounting Manager
, you will be a key member of the Group Finance function, taking ownership of technical accounting, consolidation and external reporting activities. This is a high-impact role offering significant exposure to senior stakeholders, involvement in complex accounting judgements, and the opportunity to deputise for the Head of Technical Accounting and Consolidation.
Reporting into Group Finance leadership, you will act as a technical authority across IFRS, lead consolidation processes, and play a central role in coordinating the external audit and statutory reporting cycle.
Key Requirements:- ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience
- Strong background in technical accounting and consolidation, either in a large corporate or audit environment
- Advanced working knowledge of IFRS, with deep expertise in group consolidation
- Experience producing and reviewing technical accounting papers and judgements
- Exposure to long-term contract accounting (IFRS 15) desirable
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders
- Strong analytical, project management and process improvement capability
- Lead and review group and legal entity consolidations, including ETB adjustments and trend analysis
- Review legal entity financial statements for compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements
- Own and coordinate the external audit process, acting as the primary technical liaison
- Review and prepare technical accounting calculations and disclosures (including IFRS 16, IFRS 9, IFRS 7, IFRS 2, IAS 33 and IAS 24)
- Support production of group statutory accounts, disclosures and Board papers
- Partner with FP&A to deliver accurate segmental reporting
- Prepare goodwill impairment, going concern models and supporting papers
- Write high-quality technical accounting papers to support complex judgements
- Maintain and promote the group accounting manual
- Drive continuous improvement across consolidation, reporting and financial control processes
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of key financial controls
- Support wider finance and business stakeholders with technical accounting queries
The role is based in Maidenhead on a hybrid basis (3 days per week in the office) within a high-performing Group Finance team. The organisation offers strong career development, exposure to senior leadership, and the opportunity to operate at the centre of a complex, listed group.
