Accounts Assistant

The Company

I’m working with a well‑established construction business based in Maidstone, known for its steady growth, strong leadership team and long‑term client relationships. They offer a supportive, down‑to‑earth working environment and are now looking to strengthen their finance function with an experienced Accounts Assistant.

This is a great opportunity for an AAT‑qualified finance professional who enjoys a varied workload and wants to be part of a stable, friendly team. The role covers a mix of day‑to‑day accounting duties, with a particular focus on working with CIS – so experience in the construction sector or subcontractor finance will be key.

• Processing subcontractor invoices and CIS payments
• Managing CIS deductions, submissions and monthly returns
• Assisting with purchase ledger, sales ledger and daily accounts processing
• Supporting monthly reconciliations and assisting with month‑end tasks
• Handling supplier queries and resolving invoice discrepancies
• Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
• Assisting the Finance Manager with ad‑hoc duties as required

• AAT qualified (Level 3 or Level 4 preferred)
• Previous experience within construction or a CIS‑focused finance role
• Strong understanding of subcontractor processes and CIS legislation
• Confident working across both purchase ledger and sales ledger
• Strong Excel and general Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Proactive, reliable and comfortable working in a busy environment

• Salary up to £35,000 DOE
