Tax Accountant in TOWN, Maine:
Pro Search is partnering with a well-known retail organization to identify a Tax Accountant with experience in sales and use tax, property tax, tax compliance, tax research, and corporate income tax. This hybrid opportunity offers exposure to state, local, and federal tax matters while supporting a collaborative finance team.

What You'll Do

• Prepare sales and use tax, federal excise tax, and related filings
• Prepare property tax returns and supporting documentation
• Assist with federal and state income tax compliance
• Research tax issues and provide guidance on tax requirements
• Support tax audits, assessments, and compliance initiatives
• Assist with testing and implementation of tax systems and sales tax engines
• Analyze tax data, perform reconciliations, and investigate variances
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiency
• Maintain accurate, audit-ready tax records and work papers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
• 2-4 years of tax accounting, tax compliance, or public accounting experience
• Experience with sales and use tax, property tax, indirect tax, or corporate income tax
• Strong research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

Preferred

• Experience with Vertex, CCH, SAP ECC, or similar tax/accounting systems
• Retail industry experience is a plus
