Job Description

Mission The mission of Speechify is to ensure that reading is never a barrier to learning. Over 50 million people use Speechify’s text-to-speech products to turn PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, websites and more into audio so they can read faster, read more, and remember more.

Speechify is a fully distributed company of nearly 200 people building consumer and enterprise text-to-speech products (iOS app, Android app, Mac app, Chrome extension, and web app). The Platform team builds and maintains backend services including payments, analytics, subscriptions, text-to-speech, and external APIs. This role is part of the AI/data team focused on data collection and ingestion to support model training at petabyte scale.

• Identify and ingest new sources of audio data into the ingestion pipeline.
• Operate and extend cloud infrastructure for ingestion pipelines (GCP, Terraform).
• Collaborate with research scientists to optimize cost, throughput, and data quality for model training.
• Contribute to the AI team’s dataset roadmap for next-generation consumer and enterprise products.

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
• Proficiency with Bash and Python scripting in Linux environments.
• Experience with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts; professional experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP preferred).
• Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is a plus.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
