Principal Civil Engineer

Position: Principal Civil Engineer | Permanent)
Our client is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join their busy Manchester office. Reporting to the Associate Director/Associate Engineer, you will lead large civil project teams or oversee multiple smaller teams, ensuring projects are delivered to cost, schedule, and quality criteria. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to inspire multidisciplinary teams across diverse engineering challenges.

Key responsibilities

Lead the delivery of civil engineering designs across major projects.

Ensure compliance with business quality and management systems.

Manage resources, skills, and project teams effectively.

Oversee civil and structural design elements including earthworks, drainage, highways, foundations, and external works.

Implement change and innovation as directed by senior leadership.

Maintain client satisfaction through successful project delivery.

Essential skills

Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer (CEng MICE/MIStruct

E).

Strong knowledge of current civil and structural design codes and standards.

Experience with CDM regulations and health & safety compliance.

Proven track record of delivering complex projects across sectors such as nuclear, defence, rail, highways, and life sciences.

Ability to work within integrated, multi-discipline design teams.
