We are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Environments team in our Manchester office. The role offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in a varied portfolio of dynamic projects both in the UK and globally, providing the chance to work on unique and high‑profile projects. Current projects include the Wrexham AFC Kop Stand Redevelopment, MMU All Saints Library, and the Sister Manchester Plot C development.

- Undertake detailed mechanical engineering building services design and calculations, using Revit and IES software.
- Embrace technologies to improve performance and sustainability to meet net‑zero targets by 2030.
- Ensure projects are carried out to an excellent standard, within agreed deadlines and budget.
- Represent Buro Happold at meetings with clients, other professionals, and suppliers.
- Produce and review reports, presentations, models, and drawings to a high standard of accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare technical specifications and schedules, design development reports and innovative solutions.
- Plan and manage input to Revit for production of design work.
- Actively engage with colleagues across disciplines in group discussions and events.
- Mentor junior team members, potentially leading to an early line‑management role.
- Autonomously represent Buro Happold to clients, architects and collaborators.
- Relevant building services experience or credentials that enable delivery of highly sustainable buildings.
- Experience as a Lead Mechanical Engineer on projects.
- Broad design knowledge across British, US and European codes.
- Proficiency with Revit and IES, and willingness to quickly learn new analysis packages.
- Digital engineering skills (e.g., coding) or use of automation tools is advantageous.
- Working towards, or Chartered Member of CIBSE or equivalent body.
- A Bachelor's degree BEng/BSc or Master's degree MEng/MSc in a relevant discipline.
