CMM Programmer – Aerospace
Reports To:
Quality Manager / Inspection Lead
We are seeking a highly skilled CMM Programmer to support precision inspection activities for aerospace components. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing CMM programs, ensuring dimensional accuracy of complex components, and maintaining compliance with aerospace quality standards. This role requires strong metrology knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to achieve high reliability and product integrity.
Responsibilities- Develop, validate, and optimize CMM programs using PC-DMIS / Calypso / MODUS / Other (specify as needed).
- Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections of aerospace components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Analyze measurement results, prepare detailed inspection reports, and communicate findings.
- Support AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Maintain CMM equipment, calibration logs, and ensure measurement integrity.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve dimensional issues.
- Recommend improvements to inspection methods, tooling, and fixturing.
- Train operators and inspectors on CMM operation and measurement best practices.
- Troubleshoot program issues and ensure continuous process efficiency.
- Strong CMM programming proficiency (PC-DMIS, Calypso, MODUS, Verisurf, etc.).
- Expert understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with industry materials (titanium, Inconel, aluminum alloys).
- Proficiency in metrology tools and manual inspection equipment.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capability.
- Clear communication skills—verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
- High level of accuracy, quality focus, and process discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of CMM programming experience in aerospace or precision engineering.
- Experience with first article inspections and FAIR documentation (AS9102).
- Background in CNC machining or manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Associate degree or technical certification in engineering, manufacturing, or related field preferred (experience may substitute).
