Senior Civil Structural Designer

Job Description/Purpose
Working within a team, but often with minimal supervision or guidance, the fundamental requirement of this role is to produce CAD design deliverables, including 3D models, technical drawings and sketches for gas pipeline projects in the civil and structural department. Taking responsibility for working independently or leading a team on project sub tasks. Designs are communicated effectively to the BIM teams, other disciplines, construction personnel and stakeholders.

Providing support and guidance to less experienced team members. Helping to develop processes and drive efficiencies within the CAD team.

Based in Manchester with occasional attendance required for site visits, design reviews and client meetings.

Key Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential

• Competent in design and detailing of piping systems, process structures, foundations, below ground infrastructure, drainage, cable ducting, steel and concrete.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment and able to self-manage.
• Extensive industry experience at all stages of project lifecycle.
• Good knowledge of design working practices, UK legislation and standards.

Desirable

• Multiple industry sector experience including one or more of the following:
  Water, Nuclear, Oil and Gas, Highways, Rail, Energy, Green Energy.

Qualifications
Essential

• Qualified to City & Guilds or HNC/HND.

• Eng Tech or I-Eng ICE professional qualification.
