Your Role

TfGM is seeking an accountant to support the organisation through an exciting period of change. Alongside traditional transport construction projects and programmes, such as Rail access and Metrolink, we are now delivering a range of emerging priorities including easing congestion, promoting active travel, and supporting the government’s ‘local agenda’.

In this role, you’ll contribute to the development and delivery of a diverse range of new and existing projects that shape Greater Manchester’s strategic priorities. You’ll work closely with project stakeholders to provide financial insight, support decision‑making, and identify financial risks and opportunities.

Who are we?

We are seeking two skilled and committed finance professionals to join our supportive and collaborative team as a Revenue & Capital Accountant during this exciting time.

Working as part of the Infrastructure Pipeline Finance team, within the wider TfGM Finance and Corporate directorate, you’ll be the first point of contact for your stakeholders (both Finance and Non‑Finance colleagues) in the delivery of projects that make a real difference to both the regional and national economy.

What we’re looking for:

  • You’ll be a qualified accountant
  • You’ll have experience successfully partnering with both Finance and Non‑Finance stakeholders, preparing budgets and forecasts, and producing month‑end management accounts.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders across TfGM and Local Authorities.
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret data (both written and numerical) and work to tight deadlines while meeting funding and operational targets.

What we can offer you

We have two roles available. One is a permanent position, the other is a fixed term role for 12 months. Please make it clear in your application which your preference would be. These posts come with a salary of £47,539-£52,866 per annum depending on skills and experience.
