We are a sales-led, fast-paced business that has scaled rapidly and continues to grow month-on-month. To support this growth, we are now looking for a Finance Assistant to work closely with the Managing Director and support all areas of the finance function, with a clear pathway to progress into a Finance Manager role.
This is an ideal role for someone commercially minded, highly organised, and ambitious, who wants to develop into a senior finance position within a growing business.
The RoleThis is a hands-on finance support role working directly with the Managing Director and senior leadership team. You will assist in managing all financial operations of the business while learning the full end-to-end finance function.
Over time, the successful candidate will take on increasing responsibility, with the expectation that they progress into a Finance Manager role as the business continues to scale.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinance Operations & Support
- Assist the Managing Director in overseeing day-to-day financial operations
- Support monthly reporting, management accounts and cashflow tracking
- Maintain accurate financial records and reconciliations
- Support year-end processes and liaise with external accountants when required
Invoicing, Revenue & Payments
- Raise and manage client invoices accurately and on time
- Track deposits, balances due and incoming payments
- Assist with debtor control and cashflow monitoring
- Support correct revenue tracking across multiple events and timelines
Sales Budgets, Commissions & Reporting
- Assist in tracking sales performance against budgets and targets
- Support the calculation and checking of sales commissions
- Work closely with Sales Management to reconcile deals, margins and eligibility
- Maintain clear reporting on individual and team performance
Expenses & Cost Control
- Process staff expenses and ensure they align with company policy
- Support supplier invoice processing and payments
- Assist in reviewing costs and identifying efficiencies
Payroll & People Finance
- Assist with monthly payroll processing
- Ensure salaries, commissions and bonuses are accurately reflected
Support pension contributions and payroll-related administration - Work alongside HR to ensure pay changes and promotions are recorded correctly
Systems, Processes & Development
- Work within finance systems (e.g. Xero or similar)
- Help improve and document finance processes as the business grows
- Take on increased responsibility over time, building towards full Finance Manager ownership
This role is designed to progress into Finance Manager within 12–24 months, subject to performance and business growth.
Progression will include:
- Increased ownership of reporting and controls
- Full responsibility for payroll, commissions and budgets
- Direct management of the finance function
- Salary increases aligned with responsibility and performance
Essential
- Experience in a finance, accounts or assistant-level role
- Strong attention to detail and organisation
- Confident with numbers, spreadsheets and financial data
- Commercial mindset and willingness to learn
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sales-driven environment
- Ambition to grow into a senior finance role
Desirable
- AAT / part-qualified ACCA or CIMA (or working towards)
- Experience with Xero or similar accounting systems
- Experience in hospitality, events or sales-led businesses
- £28,000 – £35,000 basic salary (depending on experience)
