Assistant Accountant

Position: Assistant Accountant (Permanent)
Axon Moore is delighted to be exclusively partnering with a well-established, growing business based in the South Manchester area, who are looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team.

This is a broad, hands on role that will support the finance function across transactional and month end activities. The position offers excellent exposure across the wider finance team and would suit someone looking to develop their technical skills and progress their career in a fast-paced, commercial environment. The role has scope to evolve as the business continues to grow.

This opportunity would suit an ambitious Accounts Assistant who enjoys getting involved, and wants to progress to Management Accountant in future.

Location:

South Manchester
Salary: £28,000 – £32,000

Main duties:

Support month-end close processes, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and to deadline
Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
Manage purchase ledger activities, including processing supplier invoices, statement reconciliations, and payment allocations
Review and maintain the general ledger, including journals, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions
Process high volumes of financial transactions with a high level of accuracy
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve queries and provide finance support
Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation as required
Support the wider finance team with ad-hoc tasks and ongoing process improvements

Person Specification

Studying AAT or ACCA/CIMA
2–3 years’ experience within an accounting role
Resilient and comfortable working in a fast paced environment
Proactive self-starter with a strong work ethic
High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively
Competent Excel skills
