We are looking for an experienced Children’s Speech and Language Therapist for a 1-year, 3 days/week fixed-term post (maternity leave cover) to work within our Complex needs team. The role involves the delivery of assessments and interventions within specialist settings, clinics and homes and the delivery of training to parents/carers and colleagues. You will be part of a well-established and experienced group of SLTs.
The service provides CPD, supervision, support and mentoring from a range of experienced SLTs. You will be part of a large, friendly, supportive team who are passionate about ensuring that all children and families receive appropriate and timely therapeutic and preventative interventions that aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Due to the nature of the post you may be required to travel to different sites as required by the service.
- Deliver universal, targeted and specialist clinical work as part of a multidisciplinary team in line with Balanced System principles.
- Work collaboratively with parents/carers and setting staff to support children with speech, language and communication needs, including eating, drinking and swallowing needs.
- Assess and diagnose speech, language and communication needs and plan and implement Specialist Speech and Language Therapy interventions and programme of care, and discharge appropriately, using evidence-based practice.
- Produce reports outlining findings of assessments and child/young person's needs and next steps, including for statutory purposes such as EHCP assessments.
- Demonstrate clinical effectiveness through the use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
- Support the development and delivery of training packages to parents/carers and setting staff.
- Provide peer support to and receive peer support from other Speech and Language colleagues.
