Why be a Payroll Advisor at THG?

We have an exciting vacancy for a talented and experienced payroll individual to join our payroll department located within the HR Shared Service function. You will be part of a collaborative team that are pro‑active and driven with a “can do” attitude. The team operates with a personal and friendly approach to ensure the employee lifecycle function associated with payroll is a positive experience.

The successful candidate will be adaptable to change and have the skill and ability to hit the ground running. Previous experience of working in a fast paced, multi complex and large volume payroll department who enjoys working in collaboration with their colleagues then this role is for you.

As a Payroll Advisor you will:
  • Process various pay frequency payrolls in accordance with company policies such as absence and overtime for over 5000+ UK employees.
  • Process starters and leavers with ADP IHCM payroll system.
  • Input all variable data including Bonuses, Commissions, Overtime and Time & Attendance data within Payroll and HR deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records in the payroll system.
  • Monitor and administer employee benefits including Childcare Vouchers, Cycle to Work, Tech scheme, Annual Leave purchase, Nursery Voucher scheme to ensure that all deductions are correct and reconciled for fast and efficient payments to the scheme provider.
  • Have strong working knowledge of Statutory deductions including Parental leave, SSP and AEO’s.
  • Assist in the delivery of the company’s Workplace Pension to include reconciliation of pension contribution, Opt‑in/out, increase contribution, cessation of contribution, preparation of new starter upload to pension provider, maintaining the pension log for audit purposes.
  • Ensure all PAYE liabilities are processed in accordance with HMRC guidelines.
  • Have previous experience in the recovery of Over payments for current and former staff.
  • Ensure the shared mailboxes are maintained and responded to in a timely manner providing first line support for payroll specific queries and escalating upwards to Payroll Senior/Payroll Manager as appropriate.
  • Assist with the production of regular and ad‑hoc output reports to confirm and validate the accuracy of the payroll data.
  • Liaise with the wider business to actively encourage professional relationships.
  • Actively participate in payroll projects to develop wider learning of payroll and business policies.
  • Keep up to date with legislative and regulatory requirements to ensure they are met.
What skills and experience do I need for this role?
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a payroll function.
  • Experience/Knowledge of ADP IHCM would be advantageous.
  • Experience with manual calculations.
  • Sound understanding of Salary Sacrifice schemes.
  • Strong computer skills, confident in the use of Excel to include V‑Lookups and pivot tables.
  • Highly numerate.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to ensure recipient receives a “Right first time” resolution to their query.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Can adapt well to changes and updates within the business.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement within a Shared Service environment.
