PROPOSED SALARY RANGE : 60000 - 70000 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

As a Senior Software Engineer you’ll help towards and own the evolution of our AWS‑based platform driving best practices in Infrastructure as Code CI / CD and platform reliability. You’ll design and implement automated self‑service infrastructure using AWS CDK Git Hub Actions and observability tools enabling rapid secure and reliable delivery for all BBC digital products.

BBC Web Enable manages Web Core the backbone of BBC’s digital products including Home Pages News and Sport. Our mission is to deliver robust high‑performance platforms that enable product teams to build and deploy  invest in automation observability and platform reliability ensuring seamless content delivery and an outstanding developer experience.

Design build and operate the Web Core platform enabling product teams through self‑service infrastructure automation and reliability.

Infrastructure as Code Champion AWS CDK and IaC best practices ensuring all platform resources are managed versioned and auditable.

CI / CD Enablement Architect and maintain robust CI / CD pipelines driving automation security and rapid delivery across the platform.

Observability & Reliability Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting ensuring platform health performance and rapid incident resolution.

Developer Enablement Collaborate with product teams providing guidance tooling and support to accelerate delivery and adoption of platform capabilities.

AWS (Lambda EC2 S3 IAM Cloud Watch) Architect and manage cloud‑native platform components ensuring scalability security and resilience.

AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit) Lead Infrastructure as Code adoption automating resource provisioning and management for consistency and repeatability.

CI / CD (Git Hub Actions AWS Code Build Code Pipeline) Build and optimise automated pipelines enabling frictionless deployment and rapid iteration.

Observability & Monitoring (Cloud Watch Grafana Influx

DB) Implement platform‑wide monitoring alerting and logging for reliability and incident response.

Developer Experience Continuously improve platform tooling documentation and automation to empower product teams and reduce cognitive load.

• 2. Champion Infrastructure as Code :
  Drive adoption of modern IaC practices (AWS CDK Terraform) automating resource provisioning for consistency repeatability and rapid delivery.
• 3. Enable Developer Productivity :
  Build intuitive self‑service tooling and CI / CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions Code Build) empowering product teams to innovate and ship faster.
• 4. Advance Observability & Reliability :
  Implement comprehensive monitoring alerting and incident response (Cloud Watch Grafana) safeguarding platform health and user experience.
• Leadership :
  Lead adoption of modern technologies (NodeJS AWS IaC) influence platform strategy and mentor talented engineers across the organisation.
