Legal Technologist Overview
As a Legal Technologist you will work as part of the Legal Technology Team to drive the adoption of our Legal Technology and productivity tools, spearheading the use of best practice tools and Gen AI to support our colleagues and better serve our clients. Specifically, working with Legal service teams to develop playbooks, workflow solutions, and automation opportunities, turning legal processes into scalable, data‑driven workflows and products.
With the adoption of Gen AI & other Future State Legal Technology solutions, Legal Technologists are critical to work directly with service teams.
- Identify, implement & manage legal technology tools (e.g., document management, e-discovery, matter management, contract lifecycle systems) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and client service.
- Partner Legal service teams, Functions Technology and central technology/CIO teams, and business stakeholders to define requirements, scope solutions, and ensure tools meet end user needs and identify requirements needed to increase adoption and engagement of Legal Tech tools.
- Design and deliver training sessions and materials to support lawyers across the business on how to use Legal Tech products effectively and efficiently.
- Build and maintain a Legal Technology horizon/market scanning capability through Tech Champions and external partners to ensure that our Legal Tech Strategy remains relevant and able to leverage emerging opportunities.
- Lead on GenAI delivery and continuous Improvement (developing use-cases, prompts, training, agent development) & Workflow automation (through GenAI)
- Work with Legal Data team to design & manage systems that improve access to legal data, precedents, and knowledge repositories.
- Collate and analyze value metrics to articulate and quantify the value obtained through the adoption of the tools.
- Partner with process transformation colleagues to optimise legal workflows through leveraging technology and automation.
- Experience as a practicing lawyer with extensive experience of using Legal Tech tools on matters would be preferable. Alternatively, product management experience with Legal Tech tools at a law firm.
- Good organizational and prioritization skills to manage mixed role and workload.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Good meeting facilitation & stakeholder management.
- Communications skills are essential.
- Experience in a legal operations, legal technology, or innovation role within a law firm or in-house legal team
- Familiarity with legal tech platforms and the Legal Tech market.
- Experience in deploying GenAI solutions (e.g. workflows, playbooks etc)
- Experience with low-code/no-code platforms and automation tools is highly desirable.
- Demonstrable experience in building effective solutions including leveraging AI tools & other productivity solutions such as M365 & Power Apps.
This is a full time permanent position based either Manchester, Birmingham or Northampton.
Purpose of the RoleTo support the organisation, achieve its strategic objectives by ensuring the business is ready to receive the agreed change (address business problems and opportunities), ensuring that change initiatives are successfully assessed and implemented to enable them to be embedded in the organisation.
Change Management Accountabilities- Identification and analysis of business impact and opportunities that require change within the organisation.
- Development of business readiness strategies that will help to ensure the successful implementation of change initiatives.
- Communication with stakeholders, including senior management, project teams, and external partners, to ensure that they are informed about change initiatives and that their needs and expectations are being met.
- Collaboration with Client Readiness, Operational Readiness & Tech Delivery to ensure business, sales, operations, client servicing and functional partners are prepared for a smooth transition of technology delivery into BAU (including Target Operating Model, Training, Communications, Service Agreements).
- Management of resistance to change, ensuring that stakeholders are engaged and that their concerns are addressed.
- Review of business readiness plans and status reports in conjunction with change delivery managers to ensure business readiness activities completed on time including newly identified risks, issues and dependencies.
- Collaboration with project teams to ensure that change initiatives are aligned with project objectives and that change management activities are integrated into project plans.
