IT Support Engineer (Infrastructure & Azure)

My client is seeking a proactive and customer‑focused IT Support Engineer to join their growing digital and IT function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work, modern cloud technologies, and delivering high‑quality support to users across the organisation.

About the Role

This is a user‑facing, technically varied role that combines day‑to‑day support with Azure and Microsoft 365 administration, end‑user device management, and wider infrastructure responsibilities. You will work closely with colleagues across the business to troubleshoot issues, improve services, and develop a strong understanding of the systems that support daily operations.

You’ll support users both face‑to‑face and remotely (via phone and Microsoft Teams), taking ownership of issues through to resolution. The role is hybrid, with some travel to business sites for technical surveys, installations, and on‑site support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to users in person, by phone, and via Microsoft Teams
  • Administer and support Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and end‑user devices
  • Support and maintain Windows desktop environments
  • Assist with device deployment using Intune and Autopilot
  • Troubleshoot and maintain networking infrastructure, including basic router and firewall configuration
  • Follow ITIL-aligned processes for incident, problem, and change management
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to service improvements
  • Carry out on‑site technical surveys, installations, and support when required
Experience & Skills
  • Experience in a customer‑facing technical support role (in person and remote)
  • Working knowledge of ITIL principles
  • Strong communication skills and a customer‑service mindset
  • At least 2 years’ experience administering Microsoft Azure, including:
    • Entra  (Azure AD)
    • Intune
    • Autopilot
    • Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA)
  • Solid networking knowledge:
    • IP addressing & subnetting
    • Network cable patching
    • Basic router/firewall configuration
  • Strong experience supporting Windows desktop environments
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM) experience
Desirable Skills
  • Cyber Essentials certification or hands‑on experience supporting compliance
  • Microsoft certifications (Azure, Microsoft 365, Endpoint Management)
  • Experience with telephony setup and administration
  • Experience with Ubiquiti Uni Fi networking equipment
  • Experience supporting Sage Intacct (SaaS finance system)
  • Experience supporting One Touch Health (SaaS care management system)
