We are seeking for one of our clients, a well-known law firm in the UK, a proactive and detail-oriented Paralegal – Housing Disrepair Litigation to join our dynamic legal team for the Manchester office. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting the management of housing disrepair cases, ensuring high-quality legal services for our clients. Salary

£24,000 - £26,000 DOE

Responsibilities
  • Assist solicitors and legal professionals in managing a diverse caseload of housing disrepair litigation cases from inception to resolution.
  • Draft, review, and prepare legal documentation, including correspondence, pleadings, and witness statements.
  • Support initial client consultations by gathering and analyzing relevant information related to claims.
  • Liaise with clients, housing authorities, landlords, and third-party vendors (e.g., surveyors and contractors) on case progress and communication.
  • Conduct legal research on housing law, disrepair issues, and court procedures, providing recommendations where necessary.
  • Monitor key filing deadlines, court dates, and compliance with case-specific timelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records using legal case management systems.
  • Ensure a client-centered approach, promoting access to justice with empathy and professionalism.
  • Work collaboratively with the legal team to support strategic goals, enhance processes, and champion inclusive practices for all stakeholders.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
  • A legal qualification (e.g., LLB, GDL, or equivalent) or demonstrated experience as a paralegal in housing disrepair or litigation fields.
  • Strong understanding of housing disrepair law, civil procedure rules, and litigation case management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively and sensitively.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in legal case management systems and associated digital tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • A positive, proactive attitude in managing challenges and seeking solutions.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in a housing-planning, property litigation, or public interest law firm.
  • Knowledge or certification in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods (e.g., mediation).
  • Commitment to continuous professional development in legal studies or housing law specialization.
Day-to-Day

As a Paralegal in Housing Disrepair Litigation, your day typically includes:

  • Meeting with solicitors to discuss case progress and priorities for the day.
  • Drafting legal documents such as letters of claim or procedural submissions to court.
  • Communicating with tenants, landlords, and external experts, ensuring all parties are informed and engaged.
  • Conducting in-depth legal research to inform case strategies and prepare for litigation proceedings.
  • Assisting with filing court documents, monitoring deadlines, and preparing case files for hearings.
  • Logging documents and updates into the case management system to maintain accurate case records.
