Workshop Manager (Fabircation & Welding)

Langfields is a leading engineering and fabrication specialist, delivering high-quality, bespoke solutions to clients across a range of industrial sectors. We are now looking to appoint an experienced Workshop Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our fabrication facility in Salford.
This is a key operational role, offering the opportunity to lead people, drive performance, and ensure the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of work in line with customer and business requirements.
The Role
Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Workshop Manager will oversee all workshop and production activities, ensuring resources, people and processes are aligned to meet delivery commitments. You will play a central role in maintaining Langfields’ standards for quality, safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate all workshop and fabrication activities to achieve production schedules.
* Lead, motivate and develop supervisors and workshop personnel.
* Ensure drawings, specifications and procedures are issued and followed correctly.
* Plan and coordinate labour, materials, subcontract services, consumables and plant.
* Monitor workmanship and address non-conformances in collaboration with QA and management.
* Maintain and promote compliance with quality systems, work instructions and specifications.
* Ensure workshop equipment is maintained and operated safely.
* Drive compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
* Champion health, safety and environmental performance, ensuring a safe place of work at all times.
* Provide regular updates on production and delivery status to relevant stakeholders.
* Support training, development and continuous improvement within the team.
About You
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a fabrication or engineering environment.
* Strong leadership and people-management skills.
* Sound understanding of workshop operations, quality systems and production control.
* A proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Strong commitment to health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
* Confident communicator, able to work effectively with teams and management.
